Green Energies
الطاقات الخضراء
Program
Green energies are the energies that are produced from natural sources that are renewed at a rate that exceeds a large percentage of what is consumed by humans. These energies are considered environmentally friendly. Sometimes, they contribute to improving the environment and climate. They are also known as renewable energies and their sources are abundant, such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydroelectric energy, marine energy, bioenergy, etc.
The sun is considered the most important of these sources, and scientists estimate that the solar energy that falls on the earth in one hour is sufficient to generate electrical energy for all the inhabitants of the earth for a full year. On the other hand, fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) are non-renewable resources on which humans rely today to generate 90% of electricity, which contributes a very high percentage to harmful and environmentally destructive emissions such as carbon dioxide emissions. That is why the shift from fossil fuels, which is the main cause of harmful emissions, to green energies is essential to addressing the climate crisis and preserving the environment. Today, green energies are less expensive in most countries, and they create three times more jobs than fossil fuels.
Program Goals
Iraq is considered one of the countries where insolation is estimated at a high rate and its atmosphere is ideal for working in the field of renewable energies like solar. Thus, the program aims to:
1. Introducing the community to the importance of exploiting green energies to harvest electric energy.
2. Reducing harmful emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels.
3. Contributing to improving the atmosphere around human and animal gatherings in all regions of Iraq.
4. Urging the community to rely on environmentally friendly green energies instead of fossil fuels, especially in remote areas and owners of farms, fields, agricultural and livestock projects.
5. Contributing to softening the atmosphere in Iraq and reducing the high temperatures caused by the use of fossil fuels and creating a pleasant environment using renewable energies.
Program Manger
Muayyed Al-Kinani, Ph.D.
He is a professor of physics teaching at Imam Al-Kadhim College, PBUH, and specialized in communications and electro-optics. He is an environmental activist, is very interested in the field of renewable energies, and a lover of nature, and endeavors to improve the climate in Iraq, by exploiting the renewable energies. He is a member of the board of directors of the Malath Organization for Environment and Wildlife.
He is currently working hard to educate the community about the importance of the environment around them and its direct impact on human health and other living beings. He has been trying to convince the authorities of his ideas of creating smart cities that are clean and environmentally friendly. He is a lover of wildlife and a believer that humans are the least numerous partners on Earth but unfortunately the most contributor to its pollution; other living beings are partners in this earth but the least harmful to it.
